100 Years Sure Flew By

When you travel quite a bit, it’s easy to take for granted how fast you can get from here to Kalamazoo. Just hop a plane and zip zip you are there. Rarely do I ever stop to think or marvel at the miracle that happens nearly everyday in the air. From the engines to the wings, to the simple way the seat reclines just those two little inches – an airplane is truly a modern marvel of design. Can you imagine the courage it took for that first flight in Kittyhawk, NC? Yet today the wonderment of flying is somehow lost to its mundane subtleties.

{Similarly, when’s the last time you walked behind your teller line?} Have you ever really witnessed the well-oiled machine that powers your credit union? From the sheer volumes of checks and cash that flow in and out to the hundreds of decisions, big and small, made daily that affect the lives of the people you serve. Can you imagine the sheer gumption it took for those first few members to pool their savings together? And look how far we’ve come to this point.

It really is amazing when you stop, look and listen.

A hundred years of design have us flying from Virginia to Arizona in a matter of hours and getting our account balances instantly on our cell phones. Wonder where the next hundred years will take us?
